Privacy Policy
Welcome to the American Association of Eye and Ear Hospitals (AAEEH) web site. We have created this Privacy Statement to demonstrate our commitment to privacy for the users of our web site and our members. We take your privacy concerns seriously at AAEEH and will make every reasonable effort to protect your privacy. Our privacy policy covers the following:
Distribution - We will not share, distribute, or sell your personal information to outside unrelated organizations, except as required by law or as necessary to provide services to the customer.
Information Captured - The AAEEH web server uses an extended log file format which captures the date and time of visit, refer address, type of Internet browser and visitor's IP address. It does not capture visitors' e-mail addresses. Personal information such as name, mailing address, e-mail address, credit card number, billing address, birth date and phone number may also be captured as part of a transaction. Cookies are small pieces of information sent by a web site that is saved on your hard disk by your computer's browser. Cookies are used to provide AAEEH with information on its customer base and to permit AAEEH to associate individual customers with information profiles. We also use web beacons (clear single-pixel images (GIF) placed on a web page which allows us to compile anonymous aggregated statistics on usage.
Security - We treat our data as assets that are protected against loss and unauthorized access. We maintain appropriate safeguards to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of your personal information. Orders on our site are encrypted by SSL (Secure Socket Layers) technology, the industry standard security protocol. We then store your credit card and other sensitive information "offline" - on machines not connected to the Internet - so only our customer service staff can access the details.
Retention - We retain information about our customers as needed for business and as required by government laws and regulations.
Comments - Any comments or questions about this privacy statement or the web site should be addressed to Cathy Betz, Executive Counsel, at (703) 243-8848 or cbetz@aaeeh.org. AAEEH has no obligation of any kind to third parties for suggestions, comments or materials transmitted to it and shall be free to use such data in its sole discretion.
Links - We may offer links to sites not operated by AAEEH. If you visit one of these linked sites, you should review that site's privacy policy and other policies. We are not responsible for the content, privacy policy or other policies employed by other web sites.
Reservation of Rights - AAEEH reserves the right to amend the privacy policy at any time with or without notice. We recommend that you refer to this policy on an ongoing basis so that you understand our current policy.
Agreement - Your use of AAEEH.ORG constitutes your agreement to this Privacy Statement.
